Hodsdon Kokeshi Dolls, from tree to finished doll.
We entered this path with wanting to work together, share in the Japanese heritage and share our story.
We believe that There is a need and always room for traditional folk art in today's modern times, it creates a more inspired , vibrant and engaged society.
For us there are so many efforts to sustain and support wood art and Kokeshi tradition and culture.
Our approach is simply to work with our hands and the raw materials to create a little Kokeshi personality with beautiful woods
Kokeshi are believed to bring prosperity,peace and a sense of safety to the houses that they occupy

Nala is a tall, stately example of the Hodsdon Kokeshi dolls. Her base is lightly stained to allow her admirers opportunities to truly appreciate her wood. Painted coniferous trees seem to be growing upward from the bottom of the base. They are superbly realistic! One of my larger pieces, she will attract deserved attention. Thank you Lisa and Jacob!
