Hodsdon Kokeshi Dolls, from tree to finished doll.
We entered this path with wanting to work together, share in the Japanese heritage and share our story.
We believe that There is a need and always room for traditional folk art in today's modern times, it creates a more inspired , vibrant and engaged society.
For us there are so many efforts to sustain and support wood art and Kokeshi tradition and culture.
Our approach is simply to work with our hands and the raw materials to create a little Kokeshi personality with beautiful woods
Kokeshi are believed to bring prosperity, peace and a sense of safety to the houses that they occupy

Yukari is a wonder! I donât remember the name of the technique, nor do I understand how it works, but the results are stunning! Yukariâs entire body is highly decorated in a floral design of mostly red, black and white. Extremely artistic, the pattern seems to be moving. Placed front and center in my display of Hodsdon Hokeshi dolls, she attracts immediate attention. Wouldnât it be exciting to be able to visit Lisa and Jacobâs work shops to see an entire doll come to life!?
