Hodsdon Kokeshi Dolls, from tree to finished doll.
We entered this path with wanting to work together, share in the Japanese heritage and share our story.
We believe that There is a need and always room for traditional folk art in today's modern times, it creates a more inspired , vibrant and engaged society.
For us there are so many efforts to sustain and support wood art and Kokeshi tradition and culture.
Our approach is simply to work with our hands and the raw materials to create a little Kokeshi personality with beautiful woods

Kokeshi are believed to bring prosperity, peace and a sense of safety to the houses that they occupy

Is little Miwa sitting in a boat, a wooden basket, or perhaps a large seed pod dropped from a cascading branch to the forest floor? My new adopted Kokeshi doll arouses my curiosity and stimulates the imagination! What a darling creature! Miwa was carefully, thoughtfully and masterfully formed with a variety of textures. She’s smooth and rough, rounded and curved, and boasts red details on her clothing. There’s even a streak of color under her hair line, reminding me of a flashy stage make up technique. Miwa is loved for many good reasons. Another treasure by Lisa and Jacob of NaomiGallery. Wow!
