Hodsdon Kokeshi Dolls, from tree to finished doll.
We entered this path with wanting to work together, share in the Japanese heritage and share our story.
We believe that There is a need and always room for traditional folk art in today's modern times, it creates a more inspired , vibrant and engaged society.
For us there are so many efforts to sustain and support wood art and Kokeshi tradition and culture.
Our approach is simply to work with our hands and the raw materials to create a little Kokeshi personality with beautiful woods
Kokeshi are believed to bring prosperity, peace and a sense of safety to the houses that they occupy

Mataeo is one of NaomiGallery’s medium sized hunky types of Kokeshi gals one enjoys holding. She’s a wonderful hand full of Walnut wood with superb details in the wood and painted enhancements. She was first introduced on Instagram with the three Plum sisters! I was most fortunate to end up with two of those! Mataeo had to wait a bit. I am very impatient, and a spoiled brat for the Hodsdons’ creations, but finally adopted her recently. Just for her picture, she stands on a wooden chest she seems to like. Together at last! I love her!
