Hodsdon Kokeshi Dolls, from tree to finished doll.
We entered this path with wanting to work together, share in the Japanese heritage and share our story.
We believe that There is a need and always room for traditional folk art in today's modern times, it creates a more inspired , vibrant and engaged society.
For us there are so many efforts to sustain and support wood art and Kokeshi tradition and culture.
Our approach is simply to work with our hands and the raw materials to create a little Kokeshi personality with beautiful woods
Kokeshi are believed to bring prosperity, peace and a sense of safety to the houses that they occupy

Mulberry seems like an old friend even though I have just met her. On line I have studied her and sighed about someday adopting her. And now... here she is! Her exotic body is almost yellow with such elegant painting to enhance it. I love her wooden bow that has two rings on each end. The faces Lisa gives NaomiGallery Kokeshi dolls is traditionally simple, but as the talent she is, just a few simple strokes and the doll comes to life! Jacob I often forget to thank, but I love the wood he gathers, selects, sculpts, shapes, prepares for each figure. What a fantastic talent he possesses! SO HAPPY the Hodsdons found each other!
